    Hi,
I have a friend that's running Win98 and her computer hangs at the "Windows is shutting down" screen.

I have turned off quick shut down and also stopped her virus scan from scanning floppies on shut down.

Any other things I might look at to get the beast to shut off properly?

That's the one. There is a patch MS made as a lot of computers were doing this.

The shutdown suppliment is contained in the critical update files from Windows Update. ;)

Good ol' Win 98, that rascal just never did want to give up:thumb:
    A die-hard OS is just what I need:laugh:

But, yeah that update should do you. There is also an update to allow more time for the IDE drives to write before shut-down.
Or is that the same one:?:
