Will overclocking affect the life of a processor? Will it shorten it?

Yes, the processor you bought isn't meant to run at faster speeds, but by the time it *craps out on you* you should have boughten a new one, unless actually cause it psyhical harm by not using a thermal bad or thermal grease...nor a heatsink

True but a lot of procs are underclocked to begin with. But still an actual time period would be helpful.

It depends on the cooling dude, when you make it run faster than it should it gets hotter and that = bad

there isn't a specific amount of time that OC will shorten a cpu's life

it varies with the severity of the OC and the chip itself

as long as you keep it cool, the shortened lifetime should be marginal if you don't push the OC too far.

not keeping your cpu cool (overclocked or not) will kill it faster than overclocking alone

    I'm a ground pounder and a good one =)
an average pilot too, but I like the ground

primarily assault, medic, or sniper, but play what ever is needed so eng. and AT get plenty of use too

same basiclly applies to DC as well

I assume you followed the link on my sig, I need to update that page...I'm not longer with that clan
