A little more on the ram. What type? One stick or two?
What's your power supply? Wattage and make. Cause you should be able to do better. Unless you got cheap ram. Some times you gota upgrade a little at a time. If your on a budget like me.:D

Yeah and the Volcano 7+ is only rated for XP2600+ but I know it will handle much much more though I won't use the retail HSF that comes with the CPU as I know that they're POS. What case are ya usin' (a link would be nice) as airflow maybe ya prob?

Ya should have 2 sticks of memory to utilise the dual channel memory but likely the PSU is at fault as rarely will a 300W PSU deliver the safe requirement of 200W across the combined 3.3 and 5 volt rails. I've never heard of the vData brand before even.

Still not bad specs. I agree with Wiggo. Probably the PS. I'd upgrade that first. Then get a stick of matching ram. Or sell the one you got and buy two 256mgb sticks at the same time. So you know they match. But with only 300watts (They usually put out less than they say.) I'd hold off on the OCing. Don't know about the Coolermaster. (Just looked at link.) It can hold a fan. So put 1 on. Even if its a case fan. It'll server you better on the HS.
DO NOT OVER CLOCK WITH NO FAN ON your coolermaster. I'd worry bout runnin it at all with out one.

My cooler has a fan.... and the cpu temps are in the low 40s....
How many W should i get the new PSU @??
and should i get 2x256 gd quality ram or another 512 ram (even if its not one of the best arround)????

If your CPU tmeps are in the low 40's, then you should probably get a new heatsink fan becasue ya wont get too much farther with those. Probably most widely supported here at Tweaktown is the Thermaltake Volcano 7+ Its got to have the plus, the regular Volcano 7 is different. The 7+ keeps your cpu in the 30's with some Arctic Silver3 and the fan set n Medium. Its totally copper, and has 3spd fan control (lo,med,hi)

You should get at LEAST a 350W, but to be on the safe side and go 400 watts or above. Dont buy some generic crap though, Antec, Enermax, theres also some others that make great Power supplies.

And 2X 256 High quality RAM would be best

A big fat "me too" here. Upgrade the PSU, get a fan -- absolutely essential -- and trade your single 512 DIMM for 2x 256MB of good memory if possible, although you should be able to get a decent FSB overclock even with cheap memory. And, next time just go ahead and drop the CPU multiplier by .5 or 1 before even starting to increase the FSB. (You'll do it anyway....)

    PSU: $30-$60
    Fan: $10-$30
    RAM: $75-$130

Good try. You didn't do anything wrong, you just need a little better kit.

Until you get a fan, set everything back to the defaults. Best to play it safe there.
