Can anyone please help me to OC my processor and RAM? I have an Athlon XP2600+ currently running at 12.5x166MHz. What could I expect to get it up to? I have a Volcano 7+ and no intake or exhaust fans... yet.

I have 1 stick of Kingston 512Mb pc3200 currently at 8-3-3-2.5. The only thing that I have changed from the optimal settings is the CAS to 2.5 from 3.

I am a bit scared to do this by myself, because I just returned my Samsung 512Mb pc3200 RAM as I could not run my comp stable when the RAM was set at DDR400.

    I would appreciate any help.

Your good with the Volcano 7+, but i would really suggest makin that "yet" happen before doing any OCing. After all, the HSF cant make the CPU any cooler then the heat it has to work with. Also, you have one of the fastest TBred B cores, and the CPU isnt made to run past the 2700+'s speed of 2.13 GHz or something like that.

Well, I tried OC my RAM to 7-2-2-2.5, but it doesn't work :( Am I stuck with 8-3-3-2.5 or is there something I can do about it? Would it be possible to go further than the 2700+ level or is that unrealistic??

Why are ya only usin' 1 memory channel for when 2 are available?

You'll certainly need to get some airflow happenin' in that case as even the best HSF can't cool without a good supply of fresh air. ;)

My XP2600+ is very similar to your's but I use 2 x 256MB XMS3500 sticks and runnin' 12.5 x 180MHz (2.26GHz) with the memory timings set as fast as the 8RDA+'s BIOS options will let me but do keep the memory runnin' at the same speed as the CPU's FSB.

I'm only using 1 channel for the moment because I am hoping to get another stick of 512Mb RAM.

Before I get my fans, I have to decide what colour I am going to get. I have an Antec Lanboy, but no LED's or cold cathodes in yet. I was thinking of getting red along the bottom with blue across the top, with maybe red fans, but still not sure.

Wiggo, how many intake/exhaust fans do you have in your case? I have room for 1 intake and 1 exhaust, so I assume that will be enough for some good airflow.

I've 2 x 80mm intake fans in the front, 1 x 80mm intake fan over the PCI slots and 2 x 80mm exhaust fans at the back with the PSU also addin' its bit.

And one more thing, we have quite similar case, mine is also Antec with front USB and Firewire, but i dont know where to connect to my motherboard.

My computer Memory is Kingmax PC3200 400Mhz DDR 512

In your BIOS there should be some options related to the RAM. In my BIOS (phoenix), it is in a menu called advanced chipset features, but it could be different for yours. There should also be 4 options for your RAM labelled RAS to CAS, RAS, CAS latency and 1 more that I can't remember the name of. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the CAS latency is the one you should try to get down the lowest.

As for connecting your USB and FireWire, it should tell you where to connect the wires to in your motherboard manual.
