Well with an asus board I'm sure you don't NEED the new bios, but I've got the p4c800 and the newer bios upgrades did add enough new features that I am glad I downloaded the new ones. Go on over to the ASUS site and they should have a list of the new features/fixes to the new bios, so you can decide yourself if you want it. You might as well though since it can't hurt anything.

Yes you can download straight to 9. You don't have to download all those ones in between. 9 will have the cumlative updates.
It is always a good idea to download a new bios, especially if they added new features in the update. They will usually say what was fixed or added in the new update if you go to the download page.
The first thing I do after I build a new machine is download the latest bios to make sure the mobo is updated before I try anything else.
