Woody, I hate to break this to you but...1. XP 3000+ was their first CPU to get a 198x2=396FSB

    2. You say you beat 3.0 P4s in 875 boards? Well, my P4 @ 3.0 in an 865 did 17,800 with no video or RAM overclock (100mhz core and 50mhz memory boost only got me a lousy 300 points).
Mine got a 17,500 last night and runs 11x200 for a 400FSB. WITH cheaper ram.
And a cheaper systemd, and video card, for the 17,500.

I am pretty happy with my new setup. I haven't even tried overclocking it yet, and it already is!

It is set to SPD which is super loose timings for these GEIL sticks, and Optimal which automatically set my mulit at 11x.

Good luck with your Homeworld. You will get it, just keep messing around till you find the right setup for your board.

well i've tried most of what you guys are saying, apart from the ram thing as i've no idea what this 2-3-3 business is...sounds like a football formation to me :/ i have 1.5gig of DDR but I aint sure if its 400 or not? Also i run my xp2600+ at 2.28gig now (182x12.5/13) and its as happy as a pig in s**t...which is nice.

I've upped my gfx card (Ti4400) to 315/640 do i need a better fan/heat sink on it or will it be ok? I'm buyin a 9800pro soon anyways mind but its always nice to keep them from burning up eh?

Chez, please, let's NOT get into price wars here.

    Also, 3dmark isn't everything.

okay i jsut ran 3DMrark01SE on settings that i would consider actually playing a game with, and i got 14066. the settings were not the great though, there was no AA and it was on 800x680(32 bit of course:devil: ) But overall it looked pretty good. that still doesn't compare to the scores that you guys are getting though, and im at 195*11=2145MHz, DDR390 2T-3-3-6 and stock TI4400 speeds(275/553). Is that about normal???

You have to run the benchmark at default 3dmark settings to compare your performance to anyone else. Hit the default button and run it.

BTW, who the hell plays games at 800x600???

Lots of peole do. Not everyone can afford the hardware to play their favorite games at high res. If you ever got out of your little bubble you would know this.

    Bubble this kid,

My 500mhz / MX400 machine played the current games, Warcraft 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Unreal Tournament, all at 1024x768 without slowdown. Don't lecture me on needing a lot of money for high end hardware for that. Also, I have multple systems and I know exactly what it's like having a slower machine so don't even waste your time telling me that "bubble" nonsense.

BTW, 1024x768 is NOT high res. I call that today's standard.

Yea, i agree with soulburner, because even with my old machine,
p4 1.5ghz 512 ddr266 and geforce4 mx420 (all stock) i was able to play all those games with 1024x178. It was smooth enough to play.

you guys don't get it. not everyone has a gforce3/4/fx... there are still plenty of people running Rage 128's. People really do still use computers that are more than a few years old  Yes, that could play some games at 1024x768...but it's not worth it. Why run it at a higher res. if the eye candy goes to ****.. just to say you can? So like I said, there are plenty of people who run their games at 800X600. Most of these people are probably not avid gamers and don't have a need to upgrade. It doesn't take much for email and word processing. (yes, people do use computers for something other than games... I'm sure that's a hard concept for you, but please try...)

You evidentally didn't read my post.

As I said, I have a 500mhz / MX400 (that's a $40 Geforce 2 card BTW) that I lived off of for a LONG time. I also had to play Diablo and Warcraft 2 on a 486 25mhz machine for a long time as well. I know exactly what it's like, perhaps even more than you do. Get off my case.
