Well, felt the urge for an upgrade and got in a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro. I've seen that the Omega drivers have a built-in OC option, but I'm wondering what's the best option? What other programs are out there that you've used that work well? Link me up....oh, and don't bother answering if you're not actually using a 9800 Pro as I'd like to pick your brain a bit more and tap on actual experience, not hearsay. If I wanted random links, I have Google.

The omegas use radclocker which is fine. There's really only 1 way to overclock the card so using different programs wont change anything.

Thanks Sovereignty, I found Radclocker all by itself, but sadly it's no longer supported or available from the author. I'll go with the Omega drivers.

I recommend the .60 omegas, based on the cat 3.5's. I've had problems with the newer versions, both official and omega. The .60's also benched the highest for me.

What other questions did you have that you mentioned in your first post?

    Woops :o
I was installing the newest Omegas, 2478a as you answered my post. As far as what other questions....you just answered one. I'll give these drivers a shot, and if it doesn't work out I'll try the ones you suggested. Thanks again : peace2:

I use Rage3D Tweak v3.9 and found it very useful, works like a charm with the 9800 pro.

Thanks Dragon_Boy. I'm still playing with settings on the Omegas. It's a bit tough, as I "inherited" a 17" LCD from my g/f, giving up my Viewsonic P90f in the process  . The LCD has no driver CD and was a bit wonky using the default M$ driver, so it's hard to tell whether it's the monitor causing any probs or the GPU.

    Having troubles here....
I tried the Omega drivers and ran Aquamark fine at over 41K, but then playing with upping in synch mode, started getting lockups. I went back to see how it'd do in 3DMark 2001....same thing, lockups. I was doing this in conjunction of a CPU OC of 200X11@1.70V, and had a restart. Upped the Vcore to 1.75, then back down to 1.725 where it's relatively stable. Figuring that the GPU might be starved for power as well, upped that to 1.6V. No improvements, same lockups. Put it back down, and now I'm getting lockups at default. Seems to be in different places, but won't go through any benches without locking. I got rid of the Omega drivers and went back to the Catalyst 3.7. All the other utilities I left alone, but at default GPU and Mem speeds...still locking up. Any help?

If it's at stock speeds then I have absolutely no idea why it's crashing. Try running your CPU @ stock or at least at a point where you know it's 100% stable and see if it still does it.

It's not the CPU crashing....the monitor goes blank or locks on the image...
