you buy paired memory at low latency with enough head room to overclock if you wish

I really want to get 512 MB of DDR(500Mhz), but some people say that 250Mhz FSB is too much for Air cooling. What should I get. 512 DDR(500) or 1 gigPC3500(4333Mhz)?

Tell them I said they're smoking some good stuff if they think 250 is too much. With good air cooling you can get 300 (3.6) if your chip will allow it.

I run mine at 250 24/7 with an Aeroflow and its the best machine ive ever built.

Yah, you can do it with air cooling. Of course, it'll be a little louder with the extra fans you'll need for air flow, but if ya dont mind then its all good. Also, what CPU are we talking about here? If its a P4, especially on a Canterwood or Springdale chipset, go with a 3700 or 4000 TWIN pack, they're matched up for dual channel and cheaper. 3500 seems faster with its better timings, but those chipsets actually bank performance heavily on FSB speed, not timings. Also, you wont be able to hold as high of timings in dual channel mode anyways. Just something to consider, : peace2: Mista K6.

    -MSI GF4 Ti4200 128MB @ 284/581
    -7200 RPM Maxtors: 60GB (2MB) on mobo and 160GB (8MB) on ATA/133 PCI Card

You can run 250 on the stock Intel heatsink...seriously it isn't that bad.

Also the comment about the timings......there is absolutely no reason why you can't run the fastest timings in dual channel...I run mine at 2-3-2-5 but will be changing out this ram for some faster stuff that can do 2-2-2-5 at 220mhz or so.

The lower the # the better. It's how many clock cycles it takes to get a specific job done.

Darkerick, do you really need to make all these new threads everytime you've got a new question? You can ask other questions in the same thread you know... And considering they are all on pretty much the same topic, it wouldn't hurt to keep them in the same place.
