which processor overclocks the best? i see a lot of people with 2500s at pretty decent speeds. i have my current Barton 2800 @ 196x11.5 @1.65v but i was wondering if a different one might get me a better overclock. i'm just trying to think up a christmas list

The best overclocker is the 1700+ and 1800+ DLT3C T-Bred B processors that you can get from excaliberpc.com for like $65 - they guarantee the stepping. They will go from stock 1.4-1.5ghz to 2.3-2.5ghz on air in a good board. The 2500s can reach that speed too but it is less common and you need the right stepping there as well.

    best overclocker? me.

    :p .

this 1700+ DLT3C JIUHB 0310 holds steady at 2400MHz with watercooling. I can post at 250x10.0 and get into windows at 248x10

With a new 3rotor shroud, pump and waterblock I should be able to beat that, and again overclock my cpu to the fastest in the wo.....
    damn athlon fx!

an Abit NF7-S Rev2, with 2 sticks of 512MB OCZ PC3500 (one is EL but considering the slowest stick weakens the system they might as well both be standard) at 1:1 with CPU in sync, 6-3-3-2.5
gotta re-bench one of these days....:thumb:

What mods have you done to the board?

And, I don't believe those 3500 sticks got to 250 (DDR500). The only OCZ memory capable of that is the 3700 Gold and up. Unless, of course, you are giving them a lot of voltage.

clean board. Like i said it would post but not hit windows unless at 248. even then it was really unstable.
    228x10.5 is best for me.
usually the ram takes 2.8V, and sandra states 2.88V to be more accurate. 217@2.6V

the case gets great airflow, with two 120s on intake and four 80s on exhaust. biggest issue right now is the NB cooler which I switched for a zalman passive (and gave away the retail to a friend in need of an appropriate gf4 mx cooler) resulting in instability at any clock over 200Mhz. Now I'm just waiting (albeit very patiently) for this

well, my case temps are pretty good (17-24c) care to venture how far i could take it with a Zalman CNPS7000a-Cu?

Don't know but there are better heatsinks out there, namely from Thermalright.
