    Hey all,
just wondering how i can get my overclock any further from what it is.
    System Specs
    P4 1.7ghz 100FSB Stock HSF@ 1.91ghz 112FSB
    Gigabye GA-8IR533 400/533 FSB mobo
    256mb Generic PC2100 (DDR266) @ DDR 298mhz running @ a 3:4 ratio
CPU temp 37-42 idle 42-50 Load

I can boot into XP at 115FSB but it lasts 15-20 mins before it dies and even on 113 FSB it vaires alot sometimes its perfectly stable othertimes it craps itself. its not the memory either because i've tried this at a 1:1 ratio and same thing happens.
Do i need more voltage? and if i do i'm a bit stuck because my bios doesn't have any Vcore options :scream: :grr:
i just wanted to get it to 2ghz and leave it there but it aint co-operating.

Any ideas and/or suggestions on how i can reach 2ghz would be greatly appreciated.

I think the ram is holding you back.

Definitely not the ram holding him back. He said he tried at 1:1 so the ram would be very underclocked at that point.

I'm pretty sure the problem is with your AGP/PCI freqencies. That board probably doesn't have the option to lock them, so it's running a divider. At 100mhz bus, it would use a 3/2/1 divider for that, meaning the bus is 99.9, agp is 66.6, pci is 33.3. When you up the FSB to 115, the agp/pci goes up to 76.6/38.3. This is way past attainable speeds for video cards, hard drives, etc, so that's what's causing instabilities.

Nah its not the AGP/PCI frequencies unless the divider isn't working, because in the bios i've got it "fixed" to use their terms on 66/33. Could it be possible the divider isn't working?

Oh. Didn't think it would have fixed freq's.

Try upping your CPU voltage a tad.

Look to see if theres an expert mode...I haven't heard of a P4 board with no vcore options aside from Intel.

I looked through the whole bios and couldn't find a single option to change any voltages at all...:hammer:
later maybe tonight or tomorrow i might put the comp in my parents office because it is fully airconditioned, just to see if this makes Any difference at all.

    more ideas please peeps
