My new system is as written below.

Ive only used the bios overclocking option that goes like 5% 10% 20% 30% overclock.

On 5% overlock everything goes fine the memory modules become 420hz and cpu fsb 840.

But if i raise it to 10% overclock the memory ****s and becomes about 250hz or somthing.

Q1: Is it the dual 400 thing on the mobo that cant follow the high memory hz?

all in all pls gimme some suggestions on how to reach the optimal speed.

Atm. ive only got the standard cooler on the cpu but a good airflow in the cabinet.

Q2: Can i raise the cpu frequency and still leave the memory on 420hz?

all in all pls gimme some suggestions on how to reach the optimal speed.

    1. PC4000 is DDR500, or 250mhz. That is the correct speed they should run at.

    2. Raise the vdimm (DDR Voltage) to get it to run. It will need it for that speed.

Actually you can't if you use the AI Overclock Tuner.....use the manual settings instead.

One thing to note though, if you run your memory at DDR500 like they should, you will be asking your processor to run at 3.5ghz, which it won't be able to do without increasing your vcore.

Thx alot, but ive got more questions hehe,

Whats the standard/preset vcore voltage for my cpu?

btw here is my results by now,

From 2,8ghz to 3,43ghz SiSoftware Sandra

    Processor
    Model : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
    Speed : 3.43GHz

Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 245MHz (980MHz data rate)
    Total Memory : 1024MB DDR-SDRAM
    Memory Bus Speed : 2x 245MHz (490MHz data rate)

    Pcmark2002 results:

    cpu score: 8505

    memory score: 9798

I havent touched the voltage of neither cpu or memory but its set to auto in the bios so i dont know if it adjusts the values automaticly when i raise the frequency.

Im still running with the following cpu cooler.

Last thing, when i tried to set frequency from 245 to 250 my com crashed in the pcmark2002 benchmark what can the reason be?

The reason would be it needs some more vcore. Sounds like you got a good CPU because mine needs to be set at almost 1.7v to reach that speed, but then again its only a 2.4.

Good stuff so far.....default voltage is 1.525v. Try bumping it up 1 notch at a time until you can get it running.

    thx alot again.

I turned the voltage up to 1,55v and now it seems to run stable on 3,5ghz :)

Cool...heres the highest I can go on my current cooling:

With my winter refresh project coming up I should hit 300fsb on air.

    wow 3,4ghz? on your 2,4

Then i guess 3,5 for me aint impressing lol.

By the way is there a chance this tuning will damagde my cpu?

I mean how much vcore could i give before its critical, and could i damage my motherbord this way?

I dont think the heat is a problem cause the com will shut down when the cpu reaches 75 degres

Yeah I like it because its a cheap processor that kicks the crap out of the 3.2 because I have a very high bus speed. At 3.6 I would reach 300x4=1200mhz bus.

It isn't necessarily damaging to your CPU but it may shorten the life of it. You will still get several years of use out of it, but by the time that comes you will have upgraded anyway.

Temperatures will make your overclocked CPU unstable and crash long before it does any damage.

Already did the first step which involved changing my RAM, and the rest of it will be changing the board and ramping up my cooling with a Thermalright SP94 w/92mm Panaflo. Also looking at changing to 9800 Pro, and I will sell my replaced parts to make the money back. Should see some very high scores on air cooling. Also, the board will have support for my next processor, a Prescott 2.8.
