    512 333mhz ram

I'm sorry but the only thing I seem to be able to Google is that ya mobo is an OEM board made by MSI which means that overclockin' is not really an option though I do have a Celeron 1.7GHz o/c'd to 2.21GHz but I've a stock 1.2GHz Duron also on an nForce1 mobo that will kick its butt 6 ways to Xmas (sorry but maybe it's time for a new system for ya).

The main reason those S478 Celerons tend to perform bad with games are the small amount of L2 cache. They have 128K which isn't enough to recive a smooth gaming experience.

I would reccomend you to buy a new motherboard with the Intel 865 chipset and a new P4C cpu. They have massive bandwith but also 512K of L2 cache.

it said that my board can use the P4 up to 2.4 ghz so i might just buy the p4 and get the L2 cache of 512k

Yes but do some research first to check what fsb your board supports.

    400
    533
    or 800

I've a P4 2.4B @ 2.7GHz (yes the one I have is a crapper) but it struggles to keep up with my server (XP2200+ T'bred A @ 1940MHz and yes T'bred A's are crappers as well) though The__tweaker's suggestion is a good one if ya want good performance but ya'll also need 2 x sticks of very fast DDR RAM (PC3500+) to really get good benefit from it (an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe would be a good start w/ a P4 2.4C/2.6C (I'm sorry but Celerons are for business desktops, just like Durons, and not gamin' stations).
