Thread: First time overclocker as of last night

I've never had an interest in overclocking for some reason... until I randomly got an urge to try it out last night. I guess it came with my newfound courage to flash the BIOS for the first time as of two days ago.

Anyhow, I read about how to do it from a link that Wiggo (thanks--you always seem to have answers to my questions) posted a while ago... and I messed around for a few minutes and increased my FSB to 145Mhz with a 12.5/13 multiplier... And I decreased the DRAM latency from 2.5 to 2... and now my 2100+ is running, seemingly stable at 1.83Ghz. I only messed with it for about 20 minutes or so, but I'm going to re-read that article again and see if I can go back and do some fine tuning and see just how much higher I can get it without hurting something.

Since Im replying to just about everyone today :)

Nice man, I just recently got into O/Cing my motherboard a while ago. Get some before/after benchmarks up. Its suprising to see that aquamark score go up so much with just a little bit of tweaking. I went from 15000-19000 in just 2 hours. And it doesnt cost you a thing. Woot!

Yes, I ought to get some benchmarking software. I've had Sandra for a while, but I've never really used it for much of anything except for monitoring temps back when my CPU was getting too hot before I got my thermaltake HSF.
