hi people i am a new member and i am very new for overclocking

i wanna ask the profs here what is the best combination for a system to be overclocked

    with this limitaion

    ddrpc 3200 dual channel
i suggest gigabyte 8ipe100 865 intel chipset mobo or 8ik1100 875 intel chipset
cpu not more than 133 fsb (533)
    2.4 or 2.6 intel p4
the stock cooling system no additionally cooling system

    can i hit 3.0 ghz with 2.4 normally ...
    or 3.2 with 2.6 533fsb ?

if any one have a real experment on this just help me please ..
i want to buy a hole new system so take that on ur calculations..

and by the why dont the moderator fix some links for the most important articles such as step by step over clocking for cpu and video cards and ram ..etc for the new user like me..

    Why 533mhz?

    Get a cheap 865 board like the P4P800 with a 2.4c 800. You won't be sorry.

    533 becuase
    1- cheaper
2- if you try to overclock the 533 or lets say 133 to reach the 200
    -ofcourse the multipliers is 18 * 133 =2.4 -
then when you try to reach the 200 fsb *18 it will be 3.6
and also you would be able to have 2 channel ddr 200 *2
-all i can get here is ddr400 no more- so it's nativley support 200fsb so that i dont need to overclock it and i think this will give more stabality to the system also the mobo support 800 fsb nativley remeber springdale 865p support 800 fsb ..!!
due intel chipset specification u should use ddr400 only with 800 fsb cpu ddr400 is not supported by 533 fsb cpu but all the ddr now working at 333\400..
this will lead you to a balanced system ..got me!

again i wanna ask if the numbers that you mintioned above are with a stock cooling system no additionally cooling system !!
then what is the average cpu temp? when u reach it ?

if i overclock the processor and then by some how i need to format and reinstall windows do i have to overclock again or not ,
isnt the setting related to bios so i think the OS doesnt have a relation with it it should still the same after reinstalling windows !!

and by the way mr . soulburner why u hav'nt increase the voltage for ur processor to reach 1.8 its 1.76 somthing ..

    Get a 2.4C and run a divider.

A 2.4B doesn't support hyperthreading while a 2.4C does and I can tell ya that that alone makes a big difference in performance (especially with a HT compatible mobo based on the i865 or i875 chipset) plus fast timed PC3200-3500 on a CPU/memory divider of 5:4 makes a big performance difference over slow timed PC3700-4000 at 1:1 due to the extreme latencies involved with the later. :rolleyes2

That setting can be found within your bios. Read your motherboard manual for details.
