Because many people automatically think the higher the number the better

i think it was 3500 or 3700 because i was looking for ram to use with overclocking so they said i needed atleast this for headroom

sometimes it isnt worth it for ****ty timings though. Most pc3200 is pretty good for hitting high speeds even without giving it some extra juice. mine hit 220mhz with no juice when i was just playing around with it, never tested it higher but im sure it would go a bit higher.

Oh goodie! You are talking about ram :D
25th feb Im going to buy new mobo nī stuff and Im still a bit confused what ram to buy. First I was going to get one bank of TwinMOS 512 DDR3200 cas2.5, but dual DDR seem to be the way to go. So I looked at two banks of A-Data 256 DDR3600 cas3(I was not planning to go all the way up to 233 buss speed on barton 2500+ but they are cheap!) about 50 euro dollars per bank. Then I get all these people talking about low latency ram, wich should give me alot more performens. Corsair Twinx is to much money (I want lot of bangperbuck) So maby two banks of Corsair 256 DDR3200 cas2? The thing is that sooner or later I will need 1 gig of total ram so maby I should just get two banks of "noname" 512 DDR3200 cas2.5? They cost 70 euro dollars each and have cas2.5 and as I said, if the barton 2500+ does 200 mhz buss speed I will be satisfied.

So, what to do? Go for total 512 with cas3 @ 466 buss speed, total 512 with cas2 @ 400 mhz buss speed or 1 gig with cas2.5 @ 400 mhz buss speed??

All this wrighting has made me thirsty, time for a beer.
Yep, this will indeed be a fine day

With an AthlonXP CAS2 PC3200-PC3500 is what I'd recommend but don't go above PC3500 as ya'll be wastin' money and gettin' poorer timings on something that ya can't exploit anyway.

*hick* That whas a fast reply, buddy! So low latency is the way to go huh? After some browsing I saw that the Corsair TWINX 2x256Mb (tot. 512Mb) DDR PC3200 CAS2 400Mhz kit is not that expensive (about 145 eurodollars) I gues 512 meg will have to do for now. I like the Black Heatsink :) Btw, what happens if I upgrade with one stick of Corsair cas2 512 in the future? No more Dual DDR? And why does AMD boards just have 3 slots for ram?
