    Ok here is my setup:

    Athlon XP+ 3000
    DDR333 PC2700 1.5gb RAM

    GeCube 9600 XTG -V2 128mb

    80 gb 7200 rpm HDD
    160 gb 7200 rpm HDD
    Antec 400watt psu

    ---------------------------
Ok now the gecube card is supposed to be made for overclocking, it has this stock killer huge heatsink and fan, its faster then the normal 9600xt as well i think. Ok the regular clock is 500/325, i read around that it could go as high as 600/400. Ok So I run it at 525/350 with vpu recovery off, and it runs great for a while but eventually it always crashes or freezes. Why does this heppen, this thing is supposed to clock so high and even at the low settings its having trouble! Please help!!!

    Thanks
    Dan

My bios doesnt have any functions to up the voltage. It only has CPU over vcore and DDR over vcore. Heres some info:

BIOS: AMIBIOS HIFLEX SETUP UTILITY - V 1.54SIS

    MOBO: SYNTAX KS746FX Release 3/26/2003

I know built by ati cards have a themp sensor for the gpu but i dont know if this gecube version does, or if it doesh , how to use it.

    here the card:

I am guessing it is a heat issue, how is the airflow in your case, and what case do you have? Either that or not enough power from the power supply.

i have some compusa case. I got pretty good case fans, 2 80mm and 1 120mm. The 120 is on the back blowin out and there is an 80 on the side blowin in and one on the front blowin in. The one on the side blows right at the gpu, perpendicular like. Every time it dies I open the case and feel the lil heatsink on the reverse of the card and it cant be more than 50deg tops, its never hot enough to alarm me. I ordered a 4fan cntroller and 4temp monitor so i can get a good reading but it really just doesnt seem like its getting that hot, and im not even oc'ing it that much! btw im using atitool to oc. Ideas?

i was trying some different oc utils and out of curiosity i ran the troubleshooting oc util that comes with rage3d. Here what i got:

    Name: "RADEON 9600 SERIES - Secondary "
    Card: Unknown
    Path: SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\ENUM\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_417 2&SUBSYS_024218BC&REV_00\4&1C526AC9&0&0108

    Path: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\r6probe

    Name: "Probe"
    ImagePath: System32\DRIVERS\probe.sys
    Path: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Probe

You are running WinXP, Probe is active.
Your OS is listing more than one video card installed.

Thats fine, I have 9600 Series and 9600 Series Secondary also(The secondary would just be your monitor). But it looks like you have the temp. sensor.. Goto into ure video card properties and then goto "Advanced". Then goto the "Overdrive" tab and take the readings of the card when it is overclocked.

If it just freezes and crashes, that means your VPU is getting too hot. What kind of cooling do you have on it? Can you give us a pic? You might want to try getting some high performance thermal grease, such as Arctic Alumina (do not get Arctic Silver, silver and memory leads do not mix), and wiping clean you VPU with isoprohyl alcohol and then applying the Alumina and see if that lowers your temp. Typically, card manufacturers will just use some cheap thermal grease. Also, you might want to invest in better cooling, such as using a 1U server CPU heatsink on the GPU. Added cooling might do the trick. Of course, you might have reached the cards highest potential, and thats it. Every card is different, so yours might not be able to reach 600/400. Also, it might be your power supply, but even a cheap 400watt should be able to hold a 9600XT. : peace2: Mista K6
