Depending on the motherboard, most 2.4's (of A (prescott), B (northwood, 533), C (northwood, 800), or the plain 2.4 (northwood, 400)) seem able to hit 3GHz pretty easily.

Ok I have a Pentium 4 too. FSB running at 800mhz and a L2 512k cache. I'm not sure which P4 it is since I am sort of a noob at computers but maybe it won't matter or you guys can figure it out. Anyway let me list everything so it is easier to read -

    My setup
    -Processor-Pentium 4 2.4ghz, 800 mhz FSB, L2 512k cache (not hyperthreading)
-Motherboard-Abit IS7 with award bios 6.0 (says hyperthreading active ???)
-RAM-512 mb of Kingston HyperX series (dual channel mode enabled 2 sticks of 256 in there)
-Harddrive-80 gb Western Digital Special Edition or something

Well I think that is all you need. Anyway I know how to overclock it. I go into my bios and change the frequency and it estimates at how many ghz it will be running at. I was aiming for 2.8 ghz just to add a little more punch. It runs right around 70 degrees right now (i think) I have decent cooling and play to buy another fan anyway. What do you think??
