    Default OC'ing Dell Inspiron 8600

Ok... I have a Dell P4 1.4M. L1 cache 32KB (internel). L2 cache 1MB. External bus frequency 400MHz. System Chip set: Intel 855PM. It's Centrino if the processor change for that. Rams are DDR SDRAM PC2700 2X256mb. Is there any other info I need to give about my laptop? I want to overclock it. I know it's a store bought computer but I know that it is possible. Any increase in perfomance is fine. Also, graphic card is ATI obility Radeon 9600 Pro. I forgot, it's wither 9600 or 9500. I'm pretty sure it was 9600 though.

I dont really suggest overcl****ing a laptop. But if you want to overcl**** the video card you proablly could, I wouldnt try overcl****ing your CPU as you probally wont be able to and since its a laptop. If you really want to increase performance try reading the winxp tweaking guide reformat to relax linked to at http://tweakguides.com. Alsdo reading system optimization for gamers might be good.

I really doubt you can OC it... You can look around in the BIOS for frequency and voltage options, but it's unlikely you'lle find anything on a Dell. You could try SoftFSB (google it), but probably won't get anything out of it.

You can certainly OC the video card, though. Just fo to ocfaq.com and read the FAQ on video cards. You'll learn everything you need.

i wouldnt recommend overclocking the graphics either. there will be extra heat created which the laptop really wont be designed to remove

You'll likely get artifacts before the heat does anything else, but it's up to you. The processor is the problem, though, so OCing the video won't do much anyway.
