You have two logical processors. Your processor has hyperthreading, which means it is an emulated dual-core processor.

It comes from ocing the cpu. Windows retains the original cpu speed and also displays the oc speed, even after you have removed the oc. Mine reads 3.2 and 3.21, the latter being the oc.

No, he has a hyperthreading Pentium 4. The info in Control Panel\System does not determine whether or not you have overclocked. It will list multiple processors, logical or phyiscal, which you and he both have.

OK explain this to me ........

on a fresh install of XP there is only one processor showing in systen info, I oc the cpu, two processors are showing in system info ...... the 3.2 and the oc @ 3.57 or 3.84 same for both, i reduce the oc back to stock, still two processors showing.

Two cpu's do not show up in sys info until I have oc'ed the cpu.

I never ran into that dilema, when i have a cpu with HT, even on a fresh and NON oc computer, i see 2 processors..and i think you have to install chipset drivers and let windows recognize what cpu your running in order for the 2 cpus to show up. As you see in my screen, cpuid has #1 cpu, and the other one is #1(logical cpu) both running at the same speed. And on the task manager, both are running different processes.

System info, shows you your 1 cpu at stock, and the same 1 at oc speed. This was done to stop people who oc the cpu and sell em for a higher price for a system that is suppose to be cheaper.
