    Default help overclocking nvidia card

    hi everyone...

I have a nvidia geforce 7900 gs ko

I enabled coolbits, I looked at the factory settings,

it was 450mhz for the core clock
and either 600 or 650mhz for the memory clock

i used the optimal settings button,

it changed the core to 546mhz
and the memory clock to 788mhz.

I want to get a little more bang for my buck, can someone tell me how high I can go without frying my card?

    other system specs

    Athlon 64 3200+ (2.2ghz)
    socket 939 board
    1Gig pc 3200 ram
    425W power supply
one extra case fan ( factory mounted on side )

    thx

Only way to get the best bang for the buck is testing it yourself. Look on tweaktown for there overclocking guide.

It should run 575/800 but there is no way possible to be certain. I had 2 of them and one did 610/825 with the stock cooler, and the other barely did 580/790. Test test and more test.

i read one forum, where the guy had the exact same card as me, and he ran it at 560/865..

I have 3 questions though, why are some tests with the core raised higher than the memory. and other's vice versa?

example one guy had his card overclocked at 524/800
another guy had his running at 560/790

    what's the difference?

second question.. by testing myself, and monitoring system/cpu, what should i be looking for to say i've gone too far? Black screen? glitches in the graphics? screen freeezes?

and lastly, in my bios settings my pci express clock is set at 100mhz, what can i increase this to safely?

    thx for the replies

I would not set eht PCI-E clock over 110 as you can corrupt your hard drives. As I said, there is no set amount you can clock the core and memory and sometimes you have to lower one setting to raise the other. It is really trial and error.
