    Exclamation Need Help To Overclock q9550 EO Stepping on GA-EP45-DS4P

    Need Help To Overclock q9550 EO Stepping on GA-EP45-DS4P <hr style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> I need some help to overclock the system i recently built. An overclock from the stock 2.83ghz to anywhere stable between 3.5ghz and 4 ghz would be ideal. I didn't really want to watercool so i have instead installed a mountain of air cooling [7 case fans + 3 HDD fans]. Also my ram is running at 5-5-5-18 timings 800mhz 1.8v but is rated to run at 5-5-5-15 timings 1066mhz 2.2v. Are those faster specs possible with a CPU overclock?

    I would seriously think about doing more reading before you OC. Being that I have a Q9550 and a GA-EP45-EXTREME, you might want to get into the conversation I had. Perhaps we can help each other out. But I learned one thing, read here, read there, the more you learn the easier it will be to tweak. I can tell you, no two systems are identical. Even though we have the same CPU, one CPU might be more overclockable than another. I also noticed that my temps dropped dramatically after about 300 hours which I learned is about the time it takes for the themal grease to make a good bound. Now if only I would have saved the tweak I had when I was at 4.03 Ghz but kept alarming out after 20 hour because of heat :(

    I will post 3.83 Ghz a little later when I get home. I was able to maintain below 60c for 24 hours using Prime95. I have been trying to hit 4.03 but keep hiting 70c.

    Do you think if i tried this with my system it would be stable? i don't think i need to go that high for the time being. Around 3.5ghz would be fine. What do you think?
