    Default Overclocking Q9400 w/ EP45-UD3 to 3.2ghz?

I stumbled onto TT trying to find out how to overclock and stabalise my CPU.

I'm not a good OC'erI've tried OC'ing before but I only managed to get it stable at 2.7ghz, which isn't much of a difference. And my CPU Clock Ratio keeps jumping for 6 to 7 to 8 randomly sometimes. (more specs in signature)

Yea, so I was wondering if anyone could help me overclock my cpu to 3.2ghz (or something close to that) and keep it stable there. :D

(sry the pic's kinda small, you might have to zoom in)

btw, could someone tell me how to upload my bios up onto here? o-o

Well to stop your CPU multi from jumping you need to disable Speedstep, which is C1E and EIST in the BIOS.

Please read this guide for some overclock knowledge, it is not for P45 directly but will help you gain some much needed knowledge about Gigabyte BIOS's.
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...g-guide-26112/

Then if you still need more help we can help, provide your settings and full specs and we will try out best to help you get going.

What do you mean by upload your BIOS? If you mean your settings, you will just have to manually enter them into a template.

Here is a template for you in case that is indeed what you meant, if it is not please explain what you did mean.

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

Ok... Not sure if you have reached your goal of 3.2GHz yet... but I'm running the same CPU on a P45 gigabyte board at 3.2ghz...

I set the FSB to 400

Core to 1.28v can take it to 1.35v if necessary. Don't go above 1.35 though.
    I've got mine at 1.312

Clock your memory back to what its rated at to start. You can work on overclocking the memory later.

You may need to bump up your nortbridge voltage a little bit. don't go to high at one shot. go one step up at a time and try it.

BTW- What cooler are you running?

Remember to set PCI to 100 from auto.

you have to turn of the speed stepping to get it to stop jumping around.
