    Default Overclocking a E5300 and EP43-DS3 ? basic help needed

    Ok - so I admit defeat + I know this is such a newbie question.
    But (and despite managing to overclock my old amd opteron) I just cant get my head around what I need to do to overclock my new Intel chip properly.
    Its due to the bios being totally different to my old DFI board ... and I dont know the tech side well enough to decipher what 'cpu host or mch latch' is etc ? :-)
    Anyway:
    I have the following:
    Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3
    Intel E5300 2.6GHz 45nm (standard air cooling
    2x2gb Corsair TWIN2X 4096-8500 C5C XMS2 DDR2
    I want to do the following:
    Overclock it to approx 3ghz (more if poss) .. but keep the memory at 1:1
    What do I need to set and change in my bios to get this ?
    (I have tried, but I cant get the memory at 1:1)
    My bios options are as follows (I have inserted '?' where I am really really confused :-)
    Thanks a huge amount to anyone that is able to help me with such basic (to you guys) questions.

    I will put a answer to your questions by some of your ??'s so you know what they are.

    I would advise you read this guide as it will explain alot of that to you. It was written for P45 though, but some of the general terms are the same and it will help you a lot I think.

    As for 1:1, that is up to you if you want to use it. It is not as good as one may think and was really only important/better in the past on older boards. This is not so much the truth anymore at all so you do not have to run 1:1

    BIOS Memory Multiplier option of 2.00 is 1:1 with the FSB, so you would need to adjust your FSB to 533 to use 1:1 and that may not be possible with your CPU.

    Here is what I would advise you try for 3.3Ghz and your hardware, this is NOT 1:1
