    Default Need Help Overclocking: Q9300 on Gigabyte EP45-DS3

    Hello, I'm not terribly good at this but would like to squeeze some performance out of my system.

    Setup is as follows:
    Bios: F10b
    CPU: Q9300 2.5
    Cooler: Thermaltake Ruby Orb (carried over from my 830D)
    RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR2 1066 2x2gb (2.2-2.3v 5-5-5-15)
    Case: Coolermaster Stacker (single psu one)

    Currently I've got it sitting at 3.0 (7.5 x 400MHz) and the RAM is at manufacturer's spec but it's running at 800MHz atm, (2.00 x 400).

    I'd like some input on how much more the motherboard can support as well as optimum RAM settings. Well, all the settings actually; I only know enough to up some of the voltages >.>

    Well it's supposed to take up to 1600MHz fsb but I want to push my fsb up from 400 closer to 533 so I can take advantage of my ram...although I couldn't even set it to 533. Will brb to report back with skews. Btw default BIOS VCore is 1.225.

    edit: Before touching bios settings CPUZ VCore was 1.104V and with Primes95 running small FFTs it was 1.136V.

    Cpu Clock Drive is 800mV
    PCI E Clock Drive is 900mV

    Now at 3.5. But mem multiplier is only 2.00D. Crashes at 2.66D. I'll slowly tighten the ram timings but first I want to stop underclocking it :/ Will reduce voltages as I go. Going to test primes first

    400 CPU FSB is 1600 FSB freq. because it is quad pumped.

    You may have a very tough time getting 533 FSB, 500 is pushing it on a quad really.

    You can run your memory at 1066 with the settings I gave you, you do not need to use 1:1, that was only best in the past and is no longer needed to run optimal setups.

    Even using your settings (3.0 with loosest of your timings), it refuses to boot at 2.66D

    I would need your full exact settings before I could guess why? Could be voltages, or maybe just your memory does not like that multi with that CPU.

    at 400 FSB does 2.40B work for you?
