    Default I7 920 - UD3R - OCZ 6GB RAM Overlock

Hello, I'm new here and wouldn't mind some assistance, please.

I have recently built myself a new computer and in the process in getting a good overclock.

    CPU: I7 920 D0 stepping
Mobo: Gigabyte x58A-Ud3R Rev 1.0 with F5 BIOS
    RAM: OCZ 3x2GB RAM 1333mhz-CL 9-9-9-20 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
Case: Coolermaster Dominator 2 with additional fans
Cooler: Noctual dual fan and dual radiator beast.
GFX: HIS 5850 running at stock speed (would like to overclock)
    PSU: Antec Truepower 750W

    Current BIOS Settings:

    CPU Clock Ration: [x20]
    Turbo Boost: [Enabled]
    CPU Clock Ration: [x36]
    Uncore: [x13]
    Isochronous support: [Disabled]
    BCLK:
    [200]

    Performance Enhance:
    [Auto]
    System Memory Multiplier: [6.0]
    Dram Timings: [Auto]
    Load Line Calibration: [Standard]

    CPU Vcore: 1.3Volts
    QPI:
    [Auto]
    IOH: [Auto]
    DRAM: [Auto]

I can't get system stable at 1.25 volts, but everytime I use Orthos or whatever CPUZ states lower voltage than what I state in the BIOS.

Are these settings fine? I have OCZ low voltage memory that runs at 1333mhz, but I think in the BIOS it's 1200MHZ

To keep vcore from dropping so much under load enable load line calibration, use Level 1 if you have options.

As for your memory, yes it is running at 1200Mhz see the 600 in CPU-z memory tab, that is 600x2=1200Mhz. You would need to use a higher bclk or different settings if you want to change this.

What is your intended goal for the CPU and I can give you some full settings to tinker with.

Can you also please link to your memory

I've made huge progress, I hope.

I've enabled LLC at Level 2

I've set BCLK to 211 and multiplier to x19. This seems more stable than 200 and x20

I've just ran Prime 995 FFT for 4 hours and no errors or warnings. I'm happy with that so far.

If I lower my volts in BIOS my 1 notch prime gets various errors, so had to up the volts to what you can see in the image below and everything seems stable. It's been a warm day and in my room which can get quite warm I think the temps look acceptable at mid 77's

I'm just wondering if I can make additional tweaks to other areas such as QPI PLL, QPI PTT etc. I've left these on auto in bios.

I've also allowed BIOS to auto set the RAM and it is underclocking it I think. I want to come to the RAM soon, but want to get CPU stable and running good.

    Memory: OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 Low-Voltage Triple Channel (OCZ3G1333LV6GK) [OCZ3G1333LV6GK] Memory DDR3 Tri-Channel - PC3-10600

Goal: 4GHZ with Memory running at stock speed or just bit higher.

    Latest test results and stats:

I suggest you use Level 1 LLC, level 2 increases the Vcore under load way to much I think. Looks like you need 1.25 or so under load to stay stable then right? If so set Level 1 LLC then set vcore a bit above that and go check what it is under load, if it still to low go add some more (Or add with easytune testing until you find the right value you need), then set in the BIOS that amount.

Ya even CPU multipliers are not good on these CPU's, so 21 or 19 would be best to use.

If you stay at 211 Bclk you will run your ram at 1688, which is probably fine. Set ram multi to x8, tehn set uncore multi to x16-18.

Then set your ram voltage to spec, if it is 1.65v ram set 1.66, rest of your settings look fine

    I'm having trouble.

Linx is failing, and I have no idea why:

    Here's my settings. Uncore is x2 +1

    This is not going well.

Please give me your full settings in a template from my signature so I can best see what all you are using.

Just a guess without seeing though, you might need more Vcore or QPI/Vtt, and or also try 2x +2 uncore

Okay, Prime was failing within a couple of minutes.

Now it fails 17 minutes (Test8 of the 1024K torture test).

My max temp was 77 C - already in a very warm room.

    *Edit*

I've just ran Prime95 Blend for 2 hours and I got one core with 100 errors saying illegal sumout. I noticed that according to CPU-z that I get CPU voltage at 1.280 idea, and 1.264 at prime load.

Not sure what to do next as this is the furthest I've got.

My temps are in the high 70's. Did peak at 80, but mostly around 77.

Start over, you are using fail safe settings as a starting point and those are not good.

Use optimized defaults, then try again.

Be sure after you load optimized, you save/apply and reboot back to the BIOS and then set your SATA/Disk settings back to how you had them before you set anything else and try to load windows.
