do you ever see the need to take mch/dram reference and Dram termination off of auto? I just read that DramV adjusts those two settings as it is increased. So I checked what mine would adjust to when I set the voltages to stock and then set DramV to the desired setting. The Dram Term. ended up in pink highlighted section right before the red. So I adjusted it back down into the safe area. I think auto may have been giving me an issue in the blend test of prime95. Am I off base or does that sounds about right to you?

I have never saw anyone need to change DRAM termination or reference. Maybe at high ram frequency. Where you able to run it at DDR-1600?
Default value for both is 50% DRAM voltage, so it is 0.75 at 1.5v DRAM Voltage, that's what auto will set it too.

it ended up being 1550 or so at the multiplier i used, the 4.00D mulitiplier put the ram at over 1800Mhz. I am running the ram at 1.900V and at that setting it would take Dram Term. into .90 range which was highlighted pink in BIOS which I thought meant is was getting to high. I am going to try and take Dram voltage back down to 1.800v and see if it holds.

I have done more testing and I have gotten the CPU pretty stable. I can pass small and large ffts in prime95, I also pass Linx linpack. I still fail the blend test within minutes of starting it. I put the dram termination back on auto and mch/dram reference back to auto. I have the ram at 1530mhz @ 1.8v with factory timings. I have made different adjustments but none seem to help stability with the blend test, I know I must be missing something simple. I even tried lowering ram speed to make sure it wasn't causing the problem, it it made no difference.

Which FFT size fail the blend test?
Always post full BIOS settings in question so we can comment. I'd lean towords MCH/BUS settings but better have full settings.

right now it is failing on 1024k which is the first test, but it has failed on 8k, 896k and i believe it has failed on 796k?

Sorry about not posting full settings, I sent that last post from my phone. I was a little impatient to figure this out. The longest i made it was 1 hour and 14 minutes with these settings. All other times didn't go past 10 minutes. It seems like I'm so close but just missing something. I think the longest test ended on the 896k if that helps.

Iwould try VTT one step up and down, and the MCH and CPU references, MCH core 1-2 steps up. To save all the boots try to set them first with EasyTune. Note that EasyTune show reference voltage as they should be set with default VTT or DRAM Voltage.
Being left on auto Static tRead Value is probably set pretty loose. Check MemSet Performance Level. Try 10, 9 or 8, which should put more stress on the MCH and bus and fail the tests quicker.
One more option to try is the clock skews, try 50ps on the MCH then on the CPU.

    Hey Chike,

I just wanted to thank you again. I just finished stress testing 12 hours blend test with no errors. I managed to get back to 4Ghz with the adjustments you mentioned. It was the mch clock skew that finally sealed it for me at 100ps. I am going to have to think about doing something more for my northbridge cooling, its just too hot in the linx test @ 80c. I think I am going to replace the factory TIM with some that I have and put a good fan on it and see how that does. This has been a long week of testing but it is sure worth it now! I never thought I would hit 4Ghz and be stable. I know my questions must have sounded lame at times but I do appreciate you being patient with me and helping me.

Usaually clock skews do not require tweaking at this FSB but sometimes they do.

The NB is designed to catch the air and be cooled by the air of the intel factory cooler. Having a water block it simply not being cooled. Placing a small fan on it's side on it, or maybe a larger side panel intake and taking the top cover off(I think I have read Psycho101 did that,) may suffice.

How low have you managed to set tRD (Static tRead in BIOS) or is it still left on auto?

LOL, we all have been noobs, you can see my early posts.

BTW update your signature to new OC.

I put a fan on its side which seemed to help out a good bit, I will keep a check on it to make sure it stays good.

I have static tread set to 10 right now, I am going to try for 9 tomorrow maybe lower if I can. My ram ended up clocked at 1570mhz which is pretty close to what it is rated for so I am happy with that as well. I am going to read up on subtimings and start setting them and see if I can tighten them up some more as well.

I have updated my signature, I am stoked today I want to do some benchmarks and see how I do.
