Default overclocking Giagbyte ep45t-DS3R and Q9550?

I have been trying to overclock my setup to 4Ghz with no success, I have had it stable at 3.6Ghz for 6 months. I am completely stumped as to how I can achieve this. I have read a few posts that say the DS3R wont overclock that high. I had it post and load the OS all the way up to 3.90Ghz but not stable for very long. I am attaching my current settings to show where I am at and any ideas on what I can try to achieve a stable system. I hope my mobo isn't the problem and if anyone know what the limits of this board are I would like to know? These settings aren't stable but just where I am at right now.

More Vtt and more Vcore is probably all you need.

What happens when you try for more, BSOD? If so what is the code (0x00000000)?

I haven't gotten any BSOD's it just doesn't post or it hangs at loading the OS. I just switched to water cooling and was excited to see how far I could push it now. I will try more Vtt and vcore. How much do you think it will take to get stable? If it helps I am running Ubuntu 10.04

I'd try 1.26-1.34 Vtt, and 1.4-1.48 Vcore, that should get you booting then you can lower and test as you go.

I just raise vcore to 1.41 and vtt to 1.32 and it posted fine but hung at the OS and wouldn't mount the drives, and then when I restarted it hangs trying to get into the bios until it finally resets to stock settings. its like a loop or something. do you know what that means? Is there any thing that will stop the OS from loading that can be affected by voltage changes?

Ya, it means something wasn't right :)

Try setting your own tRD and Set driving strength profiles to the highest choice, then increase your MCH to 1.28 and see if that helps any.

Or you might want to try using 2.00D for now to rule out memory as part of the issue holding you back. Also, your Vdimm should be ok at 1.8V

Try a bit more PLL 1.55-.1.59v, MCH Core 1.28-1.32v.
MCH Reference and/or CPU Reference probably need tweaking.

If I tweak the reference voltages how much would you suggest I start with? I did want to thank y'all for the help that y'all are giving me. I was messing around earlier and I changed the CPU frequency to 4.12Ghz and it actually went as far in startup as it is at 3.95Ghz. My question is can too much voltage make it not post like too little voltage?

Reference voltages as their name suggest are refernces to VTT. Their value should be somewhere between 53% to 70% of VTT.
Set VTT to 1.2v, set the CPU and MCH references to the default value that is on the left, set VTT back to it's value. You will notice the references scale as you change VTT.
To dimplify the process always change references when VTT is set to 1.2v.
    Set VTT to 1.2v
    Adjust CPU/MCH refernce value
Set VTT back to it's value
With C2D the P45 usually require a slite less than default MCH Reference, 0.7-0.74v @ 1.2v VTT. With quads I am not sure.
For the CPU it will probably be more than the default.
Don't change the two at once, and always one notch at a time. Too high or too low will cause instability.

For high CPU frequencies the PLL is usually needed to be 1.57-1.59v

I think I'm getting close, I have made it to prime95 testing. It fails after a few seconds on worker 1&3. Hopefully a little more fine tuning and I will have it. If those workers fail first each time does that mean a hardware issue?
