    Question noobie | cooler and PSU suggestion

    Hi mates!

    First of all I'm new here (and in the OC biz too) so I want to say Hello!

    I've got the setup above in the signature.
    I'm using all stock coolers and a lowbudget 500W PSU.

    I don't have the money to upgrade the whole machine so i decided to OC a bit.
    Since my RAM is 1600 capable i want to get my CPU workin on 400 FSB to make the RAM happy. I stopped at 333. I don't want to raise CPU voltage until i've got this PSU and the stock cooler.

    Which Cooler and PSU should i buy (cost-efficent) and how far should i go with the CPU ?
    I've read some people made it up to 4Ghz with this kind of CPU.
    Does it count if it has VT-x or not? I've got the SLB9Y/SLGQ8 CPU w/o VT-x

    With a little luck you can get to 4GHz.
    The most cost-efficient coller I can think of is Cool Master Hyper 212 Plus which you may get for 30USD. Question is would it fit in your case.
    Please follow steps 1-4 in this post to provide more information on your current setup/settings.

    The ram is capable for CAS 7 at 1600 so you may have that or less at 1333.

    I was woundering about this cooler, looks nice and seems to be good, but why is it so cheap?
    (I've heared it needs a little more paste because of the gaps between the Cu and the alu parts, but i think that doesn't matter much)
    The problem is if the 775 slot is taller than 6mm it wont fit in my case. =(
    I'm going to try it. I'll go and buy it at the weekend.

    (o.O)'?

    I've noticed that I can't connect my Camera to the PC...
    Win7 and Adobe Bridge also recognize the Cams but as soon as i start to copy the images Bridge freeze out... Total Commander Freezes too until I disconnect the devices...
    Is it in connection with the OC?

    Mass Storeage Support is Enabled in BIOS and I can use all my pendrives but none of my digital cams...

    what the .. ?!

    CPU PLL is a bit high, ste it manually to 1.55-1.59v.
    For higher FSB it is recommended to set vcore, VTT(CPU Termination), PLL and MCH Core manually and not to leave it on auto. "Target" values in EasyTune is what is set by auto.

    Memory may be ok with 6-6-6-17/18 timings at 1333 and tRD(Static tRead Value in BIOS, Performance Level in MemSet) 7-6 or even 5 if you are lucky. A bit more MCH may be required(1.22-1.24v).
    You can compare memory performance differences with MaxxMEM² - PreView or any other memory benchmark.

    Core idle temperetures look ok, what temperatures you get under Prime95 or OCCT?

    The Hyper 212+ is 15.85cm tall and may not fit in 19.5cm wide case.
    Syche Mugen 2 is only 15cm tall and Zalman CNPS10X Performa is 15.2cm tall, and both sell at around 40USD. The second look a better choice to me.

    Problems like are the result of OC, easy way to find out is to revert to stock settings. Did it began after you tightened memory timings or you had them before too?
    Try MCH COre 1.22-1.24v.

    OK, I've set the voltages manually.
    Temperatures hit 74°C in bout 5 minits under Prime95 so I've aborted it. I've tested it with rendering some videos with Media Encoder and it stoppet at 68°C. I'm now waiting for the cooler (Zalman CNPS10X Performa) and as soon as i get i'll go for a longer Prime95 test.

    Opinions about LC-POWER PSUs?

    Those core temperatures at 3GHz? I thought R0 stepping CPUs run cool.
    Don't forget good thermal paste too.
