    Default Helping OC my old E7200 :D

    I was found this template from the other forum section but doesn't know if its correct to post here.

    Here is my settings. I hope can pump up until 3.8Ghz but seems my RAM is not the same frequency. I hope there is a solution and i cant up after 3.16Ghz.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Your bios template has missing info and some errors.
    Your hardware system information is incomplete.

    We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

    We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs portion of your
    forum profile http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile.php?do=editprofile at the bottom of the
    profile page or in your forum signature http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile....=editsignature.
    Be sure to include brand names and model numbers.

    Missing or incomplete information will hinder the overclocking process and makes it very difficult for us to give you good advice.

    It looks like you are using mixed memory brands and speeds, this will make overclocking much more difficult.
    Are you using a 2 x 2GB memory setup?
    Which motherboard memory slots are you using?

    Please provide links to the manufacturer's web page specifications for each of your memory modules.

    Ignore the values in this bios template.
    Fill in your settings so that the middle and right hand columns look exactly like your MIT bios screen.
    Some of these settings will not be in your bios, type N/A to the right of each setting that isn't in your bios.
    At the main bios screen, press the CTRL + F1 keys at the same time before you go to the bios MIT window.

    Read your mobo user manual about loading and saving up to 8 different bios profiles.
    Using saved bios profiles will save you a lot of time when overclocking.

    OK.
    It's very important that you provide all of the details.
    Accuracy is very important.
    Once you have provided the information, there will be some more information that we will need.

    When you save a bios profile, give the profile a meaningful name such as 3160-oc.
    When you no longer need one of the profiles, if needed, you can save a newer bios profile by typing a new profile name over the old name.
    You want to save profile settings that pass stress testing for as long as possible.

    I recommend that you write down on paper each profile name along with the bios settings that you test with and include additional information that describes any problems or errors that happen. Doing this will help you get to a stable overclock much faster.

    Sorry for the late reply bro. I glad that you could help and reply my thread.

    So far i had change my rig equipment and had hit up to 3.80GHz. But now i got a problem that is, after i overclock my processor and my graphic card will keep crash like "windows kernel driver not responding and recovered"

    Here once again i update my MIT profile and i had edited my Rig information.

    Welcome back to the forum, did you get lost?

    Do all four memory modules have the same model number?
    Did you buy two kits of identical 2 x 1GB memory?
    Post the memory model number or the link to the Kingston web page for your memory.

    How old is your power supply?

    Are you familiar with running stress test programs?

    Are you familiar with saving and loading different bios profiles? If not, read the bios profile information in the mobo user manual.

    I really get lost for a while because was busy working. Only had little time to surf the internet. And there is many overclocking forum out there i forgot which forum im in. :P

    My power supply was just bought 1 month only. Considered as new.

    Hmm, was not sure familiar or not but i had read forum that people using prime95 and orthos to stress test cpu. Unfortunenately both program stress test only 3 sec and failed.

    Yes i was familiar with the saving and loading different bios profiles.

    Now was running you gave me that following settings.
    Yes, the Standard Timing Control are printed on each memory.

    What is the highest stable overclock you've had with your system?
    Buying two, 2x1GB identical memory kits at the same time usually makes overclocking much easier.

    The settings I posted should be ballpark for a stable system, but minor bios adjustments will be needed for stability.

    I suggest skipping windows stress testing for now and use a bootable usb, optical, or floppy version of Memtest86+ v5.01 for a preliminary test. If your system can run at least 5 - 8 test loops without errors, then you can boot into windows and run Prime95 Blend test for at least 6 - 8 hours. If either of these tests has even one error, post a screen-shot of the Memtest86+ screen or the Prime95 window.

    I'll provide some links tomorrow that will show excellent examples of posting your results, good or bad.

    Alright. I was now keep on trying my PC. I usually use it for gaming.

    And one thing I just mention about my graphic card error, the PCI-E Frequency changed to 101 isso far stable. No Windows kernel error pop up.

    I reply my problem using your settings now,

    1st, Channel A & B static tRead Value change to 8 is not OK, my pc can't boot up into BIOS with that changed until it reboot to fail-safe settings.
    2nd, my DRAM voltage is only boot up when set to 1.900V. Over 1.900V can cause failed boot up in Windows logo.


    Once again thanks for the helping and I will try the Memtest86 when i'm going to sleep soon on the night. Will give you result tomorrow too.

    EDIT: Forgot to answer your 1st question that you asking about stability. So far now I'm using my PC won't go to BSOD due to that I adding up my voltage. When use I felt stable but Prime95 and Orthos still give me the same resut that stress test failed in 3 sec test only.

    EDIT 2: Just used my PC for 20min. The graphic card still get crash kernel.

    Good report on what some of voltage setting results were.

    While overclocking, when my P35 systems can't boot and the bios is reset I do the following steps:

    1. boot info the bios
    2. simultaneously press CTRL and F1 at the main bios screen (to display all hidden bios setting options)
    3. load optimized bios default settings
    4. reload my most recent saved bios profile that had the failed settings or load my most recent stable bios o/c profile
    5. make changes to the bios that hopefully will be more stable
    6. save these new, updated settings as a bios profile
    7. save and exit the bios

    I make detailed paper notes for each o/c test that includes all changed settings and notes about booting, stress testing, benchmarks, etc. This saves a lot of time and aggravation in the long run, as I'm overclocking in steps from stock settings toward my final goal.
