    Congratulations!!

    anyone have safe overclocking setup for sapphire r9285 oc?-itsalive-jpg

    Now that your computer is out of your laboratory, if you feel like singing a happy song, you can sing along with this video:

    Whoa!!!! Slow down there.

    The first thing that you should do is to verify that your new system is stable at stock settings where you run several different stress tests to make sure that your cpu, system memory, and video cards work without errors and that temperatures are OK.
    BTW, extended gaming is one of the better stress tests. I know, it's a tough job but someones gotta do it.

    I suggest that you then run several benchmarks where you save these baseline benchmark scores.

    If you want to overclock your video cards, fine.

    Overclocking your system memory will probably be worthwhile.

    Overclocking your cpu will probably be the least beneficial where your FX-9590 will run noticeably hotter and probably provide little added benefit.
    I'm a firm believer in manual overclocking and not using the built-in auto-overclock features. Auto-overclocking is designed to hopefully provide stable settings that might over-volt some of the settings and in some cases, these settings might use values that are too high.

    I don't have first hand experience with overclocking AMD systems so I won't be able to help you with overclocking your cpu or system memory. Hopefully there are other forum members that can give you good advice with overclocking these parts of your system.

    If you thought that proper cable management took a lot of time, you haven't seen anything yet when it comes to running extended stress tests for your cpu and system memory.

    I just saw this Newegg user review for the FX-9590 cpu:

    Other Thoughts: I assumed that it was compatible with all 990fx motherboards, so I installed it in an asrock 990fx killer. I had no problems for about 6 months , then one day I smelled ozone and smoke when the computer went down. It had actually caught the motherboard on fire. I tested the cpu in a compatable mobo but it did not survive the event fully intact, neither did the ps. Stick with one of the three examples of mobo's given on newegg .
    It looks like we've saved you from a lot of grief.

    Therein lies one of the downsides of AMD's extensive processor socket and chipset compatibility feature. They forgot to tell you that there is more to it than that.

    Yeah it is only you guys mentioning that, yeah I was up till 3am testing games and benchmarks, my cpu got to a max of 45 degrees and my gpu's got to a max of 47, on both cards, I found that quite positive as I still haven't installed the side case fan yet to be on the graphics cards.

    Yeah I didn't see information anywhere about needing one specific motherboard for that cpu -_-
    Ah I have overclocked a graphics card before but never memory I may need help on that, I thought the wire management went well and it looks better and if I feel the window of the case it just feels like a cold box unlike before so it gives more room for the cooling and airflow.

    What would we say a "dangerous" temperature is for the gpu's then? I have just been playing crysis 3 on all max settings (no stuttering might I add :D ) and I was on there for say 3 hours as a test and I got both the gpu's up to 81c is that really bad I don't know I manually put potential the fans on 100% to cool them because I'm not sure of a max temp, the cpu got to 50c max and the motherboard got to 47c

    How's that sound? Good or bad?

    The devil is in the details!

    Is any part of your system overclocked? If yes, what overclocked settings are you using?

    When does the error message occur? While booting? While gaming?

    A web search using: side by side configuration is incorrect should provide some information.

    Some of the links are to Microsoft support sites and they tell you how to search the event log for additional information.

    I'm not familiar with the ATI cli.exe program.

    Download and install the newest version of Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 13.4.0.0 (formerly Driver Sweeper).

    See if you can boot using safe mode and then:
    1. uninstall the Catalyst drivers
    2. run the Display Driver Uninstaller to fully remove any remaining traces of ATI Catalyst from your system
    3. reboot into windows and then reinstall the Catalyst drivers again.

    If the problem reappears, repeat steps 1 - 3 and then install a newer beta version of the Catalyst drivers.

    ~~~~~~~~
    Your CrossfireX 81o(C) temperatures might be a bit warm but they probably OK and not dangerous.
    I would expect that there might be a 3o - 5o(C) difference in gpu temperatures with a heavy gpu load.
    AnandTech has some good information in the AnandTech Portal | AMD Radeon R9 285 Review: Feat. Sapphire R9 285 Dual-X OC article, but they were not using CrossfireX or overclocking.
    The chart is from page 18 in the Power, Temperature, & Noise section.
    At the moment nothing is overclocked, I was doing benchmarks as you said to do, and it's a good thing I did seen as I wouldnt have known the temp they get up to, I'm taking a drill home from work tonight to put that side window fan on my case, also I have 4 arctic silent fans I might just change them all out for higher powered fans, my computer couldn't make any more noise than it does with the watercooler fans anyway they are loud, all I do is turn the game sound up ;) haha
    Yeah I need to get onto the ati because I want to turn ULPS off to make the second graphics card always on because as and when I do overclock it would affect it if it let's the computer turn the card on and off, I was really impressed by the crysis 3 benchmark I did, everything on the highest settings except AA and not a single stutter and I was using grenades and running around to try get the fps low as poss, I need an on screen counter that shows fps, cpu temps, gpu temps etc. Is there one?
    I have found one MSI afterburner and it's attachment program does it I could show what I wanted, on sapphire trixx it says one of my graphics cards has 2038 shaders that can't be true as they only have 1728 shaders could it??? It must be a mistake by the programme?
    I'm not familiar with Trixx and any of its UDF's (Unintentional Design Features, aka program bugs).
    The MSI Afterburner OSD (on screen display) might not work with some games or video benchmarks.
    You need to set up Afterburner Monitoring and On-Screen Display settings to select which options you want to log or display.
    note: I just started Afterburner to double check the names of the setup tabs and the OSD info is now displayed in my browser (Comodo Ice Dragon)!!
    Don't forget that you can set up MSI logging saved graphs for later viewing.
    The second photo is a sample from post #58 in this thread.
    This image below shows the OSD using Afterburner v4.0 where I enabled most of the available settings.
    I don't know how the Samsung ssd information got in the display and I need to find out how to remove it from the OSD.
