100 mbps vs gigabit network, pleaz give opionion

Well i've heard that normal 100mbps network is value for money, as gigabit network is expensive and infact it isnt 1000mbps but 200mbps. I would like some opionion on that

Actually my server has a gigabit nic in it but because it uses the PCI bus I get around 750mbps out of it (true gigabit only comes with the latest mobo's as they don't use the PCI bus for communication) but it's certainly better than the old 100mbps bottleneck nic that I use to use in my server as all 15 other PC's have a quicker connection to it.
