a7v8x-x sound issues

I recently obtained an a7v8x-x motherboard with the built-in sound, but with headphones I can hear lots of hissing in the background. Turning off the cdrom drive removes some of the hissing noise, but also keeps me from hearing the cd. Even after I turn all the volume settings really low I still hear it. Has anyone had similar problems? Does anyone know of any fixes?

i think I already answered this question today, but anyway mute 'line-in' and make sure the jack is all the way in.
