  • Motherboard capacitors

    Hi Everyone,

I was installing my CPU into the motherboard, and accidently hitting the capacitors (didn't come off, but like a 1mm movement to the left) around the CPU bracket. Should I be worried that it might die or not last as long even though it boots up fine?

Your help is very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Johnny.

Ya really shouldn't do things like that but they can be moved a little bit anyway as they stand on 2 short wire legs though I hope that ya didn't damage the casin', if ya didn't then things should be ok.

Also, do you have any idea how long capacitors last? Will it ever die?

They usually last longer than your use of the board will but faulty batches arn't unknown.

Capacitors rarely die, but you can replace if you have the skill/guts to solder them on if they do. BTW they normally go a bit dodgy ('poping up' instead of flat) on the top if they do clag themselves.
