i just purchased one of these drives the other day an it's running like s*it. it's taking 25 minutes to burna full dvd on a 4x media. is there something wrong??? from the reviews i've read it's suppose to take less than 15 minutes... and my computer is lagging really bad when the burner has any activity going on. it's also taking around 30 minutes to backup any sort of disk! i'm using Princo DVD-R 4X A-Grade disks. i also have the latest firmware installed

What are the specs of your PC? Mainly CPU, Ram, motherboard/chipset type and the type of IDE controller. Also, is the drive using DMA mode or PIO?

It sounds like the PC has problems with supplying data quickly enough for the DVD drive (at 4x I think its around 5000 kb/sec).

make sure you switch you on DMA. Skipping the CPU should give you a bigger speed increase.
