modem driver

I have just built up a pc for my son, using an discorvery modem. It did not have a driver disc. I DL a driver a XP HSF Generic Drivers, from Conexant Systems. The problem is it connects alright but the speaker want turn off.

The info on the chip is RS56/SP- PCI 11P1, RG 793-21, 9901 B712885.

Does any one have an idea.....
