  • OVERCLOCK CPU FAN

i would like to know if there is a way to like "overclock" my cpu fan, what i mean is, is there a way to set a higher voltage to my fan so it could rotate faster, even if i can't adjust it manualy like the volcano 9/11/12.
i use the fan than came with my AMD BARTON 2600+, and my mobo it auto-adjusting the fan speed, i use a A7N8X

    thx

you could but it would probably burn the fan out very quickly
it would be easier to just buy a fan that moves more air

Not to mention making your system louder. I would just buy a new one. the Volcano 7+ is getting a bit out dated, but still one of the best out there.

Pretty much. You probably could get the fan to work slightly faster without burning it out, but you'll need another one if you want any real changes in temperature.

Just get a 3 to 4 pin adapter that has a speed sensor wire that still goes to the mobo. like this one
But the bottom line is, a 2600 barton gets too hot at stock speeds to rely on a stock amd cooler especially if it's speed gets varied. As I said in another post, the stock amd coolers with their thermal pads are meant for like a granny that only knows how to email and such in an air conditioned environment. Quite frankly, I am surprised you are not having heat related problems. A thermaltake volcano 7+ and some properly applied arctic silver ceramique will do wonders for cooling that cpu.

I find it hard to believe those sensors are reading correct. Or the program reading them.
