  • Need a power source....

The case I was looking at, which came with a power source, will probably be on backorder from now until doomsday, so I am opting to go for a case without a powersource, but I don't know the first damn thing about which brand is reliable.

I'm looking for a 500 watt. Is there any particular brand that is good/bad or are they just all the same in the end?

Found a nice Vantec, but it's only a 400 watt. Think that can handle an AMD 3200 and a SATA drive?

Well i know ill get flamed prolly soon as I post this but I run a thermaltake silent purepower 480 watt and absolutely love it. I would look into one of those. I have a p4 3.2 oced to 3.51, 10 fans, 2 cd rom drives, a floppy, 1 hard drive, the mobo, 2 cold cathodes, my fan controller, and a 9800xt to support and it hasnt failed me yet. The PSU is rather nice, it comes w/ 2 fans and a controller for them. I would definately at least take a look at it.

i originally used a codegen (generic brand) it fried after a good year of use (i was happy with the wear i got for the price i paid.

i now use a 450wtt thermaltake, and im happy with it (cost about 3 times as much though)

but i use a few thermaltake products and have been happy with all of them.
