  • Dual-Layer DVD Burners

    Hey all,
I'm looking into getting one of the new Dual layer DVD Burners (they hold 8.4G on one side)
I was wondering what i should be looking for, brand wise, speed wise, price wise?

Will they also burn regular single-layer 4.7G DVD's?

    Thanks for the info all!

Yeah. Dual-layer speeds will also continue to increase beyond the 16x that standard DVD-Rs can be burned at, and the cost of DVD-R DL media will eventually go down to a level that makes a worthwhile purchase. The NEC ND-3520A is the quickest and also 1 of the best value DVD burners ive seen

i was just doing a quick price look, i see the Sony dual layer for around $140 to $160... i dont think thats bad at all.
But, what software supports dual layer?
DVDXcopy dosent, which is what i usually use.

Nero 6 does. The NEC burner i suggested is available from $63.99, and burns dual layer at 4x, DVD-R and DVD+R at 16x, DVD+RW at 8x and DVD-RW at 6x

          Yes it will.

I personaly like the LG and LiteOn brands of the dual layer burners but there is nothing wrong with NEC.
