  • Turion 64 vs. Regular 64?

Make a long story short, my laptop purchased snowballed until I bought a Presario v2310 with a Turion 64 ~ 1.6. My question is, I spent $950 on it, and for around the same amount, I could get a patop with a regular 64-bit processor that would run at about 2 Ghz. What's a better deal? I know the Turion will change its bus speed for your workload, translating to better battery time, but does it have better performance over a 2 Ghz 64-bit processor?

Oh yeah, the purchase went great. I got $50 all together off on the laptop and a fancy $70 Targus backpack carrying case for free. I think the employee and manager at CompUSA felt bad for, as they said, "screwing me over every time I came in there."

I haven't honestly looked at any performance comparisons, but I'm almot positive that a Turion won't perform better than an Athlon 64. It certanly has it's advantages, but performance is not among them.
