The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.

So im trying to install some software for my MP3 player but every time it starts the installation i get this error -

"The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.

The RPC server is unavailable."

I've googled it and got some ideas about Dcom service being turned off so i did service.msc and it wasnt there so now im totally stumped, any ideas? thank you!

How about you start by telling us what version of Windows you're running, as well as what MP3 player it is?

What service pack for XP do you have installed? Also, have you done any sort of performance tweaking?
