  • Upgrade to Pro help

    Hey Im looking to upgrade my Windows XP home to XP Pro, where is the best place to get the upgrade, and is it just a simple insert cd and upgrade deal or not?

    Re: Upgrade to Pro help

    There are not very many good reasons to upgrade this way. All you really get is better control over network services. I would advise against it and say to wait for Vista to see if it is enough of an improvement.

          Re: Upgrade to Pro help

          Vista should be out sometime this year. summer i think.
          its the new version of windows, it used to be codenamed as longhorn if that helps.
          just a warning though it will need a very powerful system to run properly

              Re: Upgrade to Pro help

              a google search found a site showing the minimum specs as:
              * DirectX 9 framework
              * Windows Display Driver Model
              * 32 bits per pixel depth with 64MB of graphics RAM
              * 2.4GHz processor
              * 512MB RAM
              * Graphics card capable of handling Windows Presentation Foundation

              dunno exactly how accurate that is though

                Re: Upgrade to Pro help

                Well, the 2.4GHz processor part cannot be right. Maybe a Pentium 4 2.4GHz+ or an equivalent AMD CPU (2400+ or better). I also heard it will need a stronger video card. All these rumors..........
