Wireless Connection

Hi guys i currently have a Linksys WRT150N wireless router and a Linksys WMP300N PCi card. I want to know why when the security for the Router is enabled it connects at 54Mbps and when it is disabled it connects at 300Mbps. Is that normal? and im using the WPE method as security.

Don't worry i figured it out!

The WEP method limits it, now i am using WPA and it works a treat and connects at 300mbps yay!
