problem downloading on vista

I have just bought a new PC and it came with Windows Vista, the problem is everytime i try to download a file it says internet explorer has stopped working, it is happening on quite a few things im trying to download, it is so frustrating has anyone else had this problem and know of any fix?

use windows update to get the new files - or just wait a while vista will d/l them by itself
