    Hello,

I built my system within the last month. Here are the specs:

    GA-EP45-DS3R (F8 Bios)
    Intel Q9450
    4GB OCZ OCZ2P10664GK (@ 2GB)
    ATI HD4870
    Vista 32
    Western Digital Sata 500GB

Anyway, the system seems to have lost some stability at start up and shut down. I can get through BIOS but Vista with either freeze after scrolling bars; load fine; or hang on close.

However, sometimes, when I start up, the fans kick on for a few seconds, then shut down. Sometimes it resets itself, other times it requires me to manually reset.

I ran memtest and got some errors. However, I now see that the memory seems to be not on the QVL-even though it was last month!

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks
    MOBO: GA-EP45-DS3R (BIOS F10)
    CPU: Q9450 @ 2.66 (OC'd to 3.21Ghz)
    CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120
    RAM: OZC 4GB Platinum @1066 (2x2Gb)
    GPU: ATI HD6850
Power: Cooler Master Real Power Pro 850w
    Chassis: Cooler Master CM 690
    OS: Windows Vista 32 bit

    Re: Ga-ep45-ds3r & ozc ddr @1066

quick update- This never happened in all other times- but the orange Realtek audio icon (the one that pops up when you plug in front headset) does not show up even though my audio is working fine. Also, my network icon shows up as not connected (i.e. x next to it), even though I am on Internet through network.

Does this mean my motherboard is bad?

Update: A shut down and start-up caused the RealTek and Network Icons to display properly. I'm thinking now mother board problem.

    Thanks

What settings are you using for your ram? This could be the cause, and if you do not have enough voltage to your MCH as well. Can you post some pics of your MIT section for me?

Sorry for the spreadsheet. Don't know how to take image in BIOS.

Also, I did see your advice to others, so the changes were based on your previous recommendations to others.

For your sake do not use @bios again!!!

Now, first thing I must suggest is for you to set PCI Express to 100, always!! Then try 1.3 or 1.25 for MCH core. And please post a image or your settings in advanced timing controls for your ram

FYI, 1.25 was NOT a selectable option in McH Core. I used 1.3

                              FYI,

                              Advanced Clock Control:

                              CPU Drive=800mV
                              PCI Express=900mV

Also, you did tell me to not use @bios again. Fine, but I am now thinking the problems did start happening after my @bios flash. So, it appears that the instability at boot might either be caused by @bios and/or the F8A bios itself.

Should I flash to the F5 bios?
