EP45-DS3r + OCZ Reaper = BSOD

    alright, first I'll give you my computer specs:

    • Motherboard and revision: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R v1.0
    • BIOS: F10
    • CPU: Intel C2D E8500 @ 3.16GHz
    • Memory: OCZ Reaper HPC OCZ2RPR10664GK (I have 2 4GB kits)
    • Video Card: Asus GeForce 9600GT
    • Power Supply: Enermax Liberty 500W
    • HDD: 2x Seagate 500GB in RAID0 config
    • Optical Drives: 2x DVD+-RW DL
    • Operating System: Vista Ultimate 64bit

    So basically I am unable to get my computer to run with any sense of stability. I'm pretty sure it's coming down to memory timing/voltages because nothing else really makes sense.
    Right now I have only 1 pair of memory in slots 1 + 3 on the motherboard attempting to get some stability with 4GB as a jumping off point. I searched around and found someone with my same mobo and memory and the settings they used HERE.Well, my computer still will not run for more than about 10 minutes without a big fat BSOD.
    I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I've been dealing with this for days and can't seem to get it right, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    I'd probably loosen those timings even further and/or lower the DRAM speed until you get a stable system, then you can adjust them later.

    I doubt the PSU is an issue, but it might be worth checking out as a last-ditch option.

      hello aural,

      I have the same memory and board and vista 64. I clocked the memory at 400 mhz. Dit you thry that? in your case user multiplier 8x 400mhz.Here are my settings which might work for you:

        So, how are you coming along with this? Did the above help you, or do you still need help? Sorry for the late reply, I have been gone for a few to install a new board and ended up having to redo my water loop.

          well i reset my cmos, and re-did all of the settings that i posted above. Put 2 2GB sticks in slots 1+3 and right now the computer is running with some sense of stability, though i must say for how high end those memory modules are supposed to be, I feel that these are very conservative settings.

          I have yet to attempt to put in my second set of memory. I'm almost scared to. When I do put them in what settings should i tweak to accommodate for them? I'd love to have all 8GB working quick and stable. I'm really not caring about overclocking anything at the moment but i do want to at least get what I paid for out of my components.

              Lsdmeasap: Thanks for the guidence. I really do appreciate it. I have worked in the IT field for going on 7 years now and this stupid computer build has taken a lot out of me!

              I'll give your settings for 8GB tomorrow and see what happens.

              Now these settings seem pretty conservative - do you think I'm still getting my monies worth out of it with these configs? (that is out of pure curiosity)

                Ya, I know the feeling!

                Ya, you will get your $$'s worth, I just posted those high for you as a starting point. You may need higher even for some, until you find which needs to be higher then the rest. Then you will be able to bring them all back down

                Please also use 800 Driving strength profile if 1066 one gives you issues. And you can also test 400MCH latch

                  it's been a while since I've had a chance to mess around with my rig, but i threw the other 4GB of memory in today with the below settings and it will into windows and then resets itself, so I'm still running unstably. any further assistance would be great!

                    Make these changes and see how it goes (you did test each new stick at stock to be sure none were faulty right?) If not, please do so, here is the latest Memtest86+ that correctly picks up P45 ram >>>

                        What exactly did you set? Please post your full exact settings. Does it make it to windows at all, any of the windows loading process? What is the BSOD error code if you can catch it in time
