  • UD3P -- Weird 'lag', and IDE controller errors?

Occasionally, I'll get a small hang for a few seconds, where the system remains responsive, except for whatever window is active. This error doesn't ALWAYS do that, but I'll usually find a few in rapid succession when it does. It does not happen often, and seems random.

    Q6600
    UD3P of course
    4gb Corsair Ram
250gb WD Caviar (yes, it passed all it's HD tests, I do not think it's failing)
and a Samsung SATA DVD drive.

HD is on SATA port 1, while the DVD drive is on 0. Apparently I didn't put the HD on 0, but that can't matter that much, can it?

    What OS are you using?

Are your hard drives in AHCI mode?
    GA-P35C-DS3R Rev2.0 F11 bios, E8200 (@3.0Ghz), OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 Reaper 4GB (@1200Mhz), Xonar D1, 8800GTS 512, Corsair HX520 (Single 12volt line, Max 40A), WDC 3200aaks/5000aaks in AHCI mode, Vista 64 Premium.

      I'm using Vista 64 Business.

Um, I think I had my HD running in IDE mode, but I switched it to AHCI, and it seems to have not happened since? Knocking on wood here.

I just started goofing with BIOS settings before, so I don't know exactly what AHCI is, and if I should be using it. Both my HD, and DVD drive are SATA.

Well if problem solved then you should not mess with the settings anymore!!!

AHCI enables NCQ, and Hotswapping is all

NO, port zero or one wont matter in this case
