  • Help! FSB-BUS won't change!

    Hi,
I have a very strange problem, but from all I read I Find no solution:
Changes to the FSB-bus I do in my Gigabyte EP45T-DS3R BIOS (either increase or decrease) are ignored in windows that continue keeping a fixed 333Mhz. When restarting and rechecking the BIOS the modified values are still there.
    I enclose bios snapshots.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Giorgina

      Re: Help! FSB-BUS won't change!

I have an ep45ud3p with the same problem.
I took an E8400 out of my Asus P5B Deluxe (which was running at 3.8) and put it into my new gigaBITES board. After a few unsuccessful overclocks, I loaded optimized defaults. System booted fine.
Then I tried to overclock from 3.0 to 3.2, but when I saw the bios screen, it just said 3.0 333x9. So then I tried a changing a few other settings for testing (disabling lan for example) and that bios change took, but none of the overclock settings did.
Checked in windows - it says 3.0 also.
Then I reflashed bios to F9 and loaded optimized defaults. Once more tried overclocking and the problem is still there.
Next, I downloaded Easy Tune 6 and tested - same results.
Bios settings are there, but are ignored.

I can not post screens right now, but I know that:
      cpu enhanced halt is disabled
      cpu eist function is disabled

      XP sp3
      G.SKILL (2 x 2GB) DDR2 SDRAM 1066 (PC2 8500)
      Corsair 520 psu
      mobo rev 1.1

Either of you try a CMOS clear?

i had this bios reset problem when i optimized my ram settings, when the Trfc was below 105ns the bios reseted itself on reboot. i know your problem is gone but may help if you run in this problem again while overclocking.

                  Re: Help! FSB-BUS won't change!

                  Mobo shipped with F8.
I flashed the bios to F9 before this all started.

Cleared cmos, and it booted with F9 without all my changes, which I thought was strange, but it worked.
I then used Easy Tune 6 to oc it to 3.6.
At 3.8 I just get a black screen right before xp should start, but I guess thats another battle and a different thread.

                  Anywayz, thnx.
I'm gonna need lots of help with this mobo.....

                    Re: Help! FSB-BUS won't change!

Review the BIOS setting sticky carefully. I was hitting a wall and could not get from 489 to 500. I then read that sticky in detail, took the time to understand the relationship between the voltages, inlcuing DRAM, and boom! 4.5GHz rock steady. Had to use google to satisfy my need to understand some things, and usually, my Google searches brought me to some threads on this forum. Great resource. The EP45-UD3 thread at Extremesystems also contains good info.
