  • New Mobo no POST

I got a new GA-G31M-ES2L Micro-ATX motherboard and put it in an Antec NSK case. Also used an old E6400 Core2 and 2GB of PQI RAM, and 3 SATA disks which were used previously in another system.

The new system won't POST. There is no display on the monitor. There are no beeps from the PC speaker either. All the fans, CPU fan, and hard drive power up, but the only other indication of life is the HDD light which flashes 9 long flashes and then starts flashing quickly.

Is the HDD light used for error codes? I can't find anything in the manual about that, and why wouldn't the PC speaker make any sounds?

    Any ideas what's wrong?

    Re: New Mobo no POST

Hi. I dont think HDD lights are used for error codes. First thing to see would be to make sure that the PC Speaker is connected correctly to see if there are any codes. If that doesnt work, the next best thing would be to strip all non essential gear from the board. I.E: 1 HDD, 1DVD, 1 RAM, Video Card & CPU. and try and post like that. Also remove everything CPU RAM AND VIDEO and reseat it to make sure its connected properly. Check that all the power connectors are connected correctly, there should be a 24Pin ATX power thing or maybe 20pin and a 4 or 8 pin CPU Power connector elsewere.
