Can you please link us to your ram, or give me the model #? And also please tell us what BIOS you are using.

Once we have that info we can better advise, until then I do not feel comfortable advising much. I can say you may need more Vtt (CPU Term)

Re: What should I change to increase stability

      Here is the link to Crucial Ballistix DDR3 ram ==> BL2KIT25664BA1336 - 4GB kit (2GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM , DDR3 PC3-10600 from Crucial.com

      I flashed the F3 bios on/about 06/24/09

I may also be having vista problems. I have to boot into safe mode since I get "multiple attempts" to boot, then bsod, then safe mode then I can get into Vista Ultimate. I have an image of a good working vista that I am getting ready to reinstall. I will probably wait until I get the cmos right before I do that though.

      Thanks,

      Dan

I don't see how an image of a good working Vista is helpful unless it's from the same computer setup.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am assuming ( you know what "they" say about assume) the the changes to the bios will be similar to flashing to a new bios. Just to be on the safe side I just posed that question to the Acronis forum. I'll see what kind of responses I get.

Re: What should I change to increase stability

I just heard from Acronis Tech Support. There is no problem restoring an image after changes to the bios. The Acronis image is independent of the bios.

Re: What should I change to increase stability

Oh ok? Your doing a bios update, and memory upgrade. Everything else is as it was? OK! Now I see how an image of a good working Vista is helpful.

Try tRead of 9 or 10.

Re: What should I change to increase stability

Thank you Conners. I set tREAD to 9 in both Channel A and Channel B.

I have been rebooting, sleep and wake up, hibernate - power off - restart - all with no bsod.

Can you suggest any reading material for me to study so I can learn more about what the various changes of values in the cmos mean? I appreciate all the help and I would like to learn more about what goes on in the cmos.

                    Thanks again,

                    Dan

Glad that got it working for you.

Lsdmeasap has a couple of really good topics on memory and basic overclocking I suggest you read. there are the links to them.
