  • GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

I have installed 2x2GB OCZ DDR3 OCZ3G1866LV4GK on this board running Windows7 64bit which boots ok and is usable but

Under M.I.T Current Status- Dimm Slot 1 and 4 show 2048 but under Enabled Slot only Slot 1 is showing 2048. So the system seems to be only using half the installed memory.

Have I missed a setting in the bios to enable all the memory to be used?

No,you didn't missing setting in the BIOS to enable dual channel.
Are you using latest BIOS F5d?
    Overclock or not?
What is your RAM setting in BIOS?

      Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

These are current settings. I have, since last post, swopped the 'sticks' around (Slot1 and Slot4) without success. Slot4 is still not recognized in BIOS

        Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

How about your total memory size under MIT and MIT current status?
Have you to checked the total memory size in Win7?
maybe you should try to plug one stick of memory on Dimm 1 and checked if it can be recognized under MIT and MIT current status.
        then test another stick.

            Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

            Did you solve your problem?
            I just bought a P55-UD6 board with i5 750 CPU.
            I also have memory problems
I put 4*2GB DDR3 1333 Kingston RAMS and both bios and windows see it as 4GB
The seller tested 3*2GB DDR3 1600 Rams and still the same only 4GB
Is there some kind of a setting to be made in BIOS?

              Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

no need to set anything in bios,it will automatically detect dual/tri channel...thats how it is for ex58 boards i cantsee p55 boards being any different, please read your manual tho and makesure your installing it in the correct slots normally the white slots

                Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

                there are 6 slots
                the manual says:
for two modules install in 1 and 4
for four modeuls install in 1,2,4,5 or 1,3,4,6 (ı tried both and does not recognize 2 of the 4 modules)
for six modules 1,4 Double sided modules, 2,3,5,6 single sided
                that's all

apparently it does not say anything about 3 modules, and when I put 3 modules it again recognzies only 2 modules
I sent the board to the seller and they will try with another p55-ud6, maybe this one is defected?

                  Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

you could have a faulty ram slot, you can only use dual channel in p55,the way to test if its faulty slot or module is to just put one stick in the slot start with slot#1 and go through each slot,if its working it will boot into windows from any slot with just one stick.....are you usig a 32bit os?? or 64 bit?? mvn i read your sig

                    Re: GA-P55-UD6 Memory issue

This could also be caused by bent pins, uneven CPU heatsink mounting, or incorrect QPI/Vtt and ram voltages.

Have you guys checked your pins?

QPI may need 1.25-1.35+ depending on ram timings-speed/uncore speed/QPI speeds. You will also need to set your ram voltage to 1.66V

Also, when you guys are checking the slots bynumber, be sure you are using the numbers labeled on the PCB and not going by slot number from the CPU outwards.
